First letter of the Greek alphabet is
Alpha. As a number it is 1.
Alpha as a symbol and or term; it refers to “first” or “principal”. As a term it is “most significant”.
In the socio-hierarchy, there seems to be a tribe dynamic and Alpha is the natural born leader. Not necessarily a ruler, just a leader. That person is the hub of the family, friend group, team, business, ministry.
People just want to be a part of the Alpha’s Tribe or team. It’s not superimposed, that would be a “Gamma” dictatorship, we will discuss later.
In this lesson, we want to establish two things— what does Alpha represent and what does the number represent.
Every group has a leadership, some good and some bad. Some groups have noble purposes and others ignoble. Some follow an idea or a creed, others follow for fear sake.
Another time we will focus on the bad guys of the world that lie and deceive, put people into submission through diabolical tactics but let’s focus on the good and noble leadership— the evil is recognized by its fruit of deception, fear, pride, bitterness and violation of free will.
Almost all need someone to fulfill their agenda or goal and that’s where leadership comes into play. A leader or a team of leaders that are the magnet that draws people together with charismata, confidence and faith that inspires others to join as an act of their freewill.
The natural born or supernaturally born again leader that good people want to follow into battle, a just cause, an outreach of mercy— to serve the Great Commission or to make great commission at a job.
He or she is the one that inspires, energizes and cultivates, tribes, nations, people and teams together to serve a goal or vision.
Being a demonstrative bully doesn’t make an Alpha. Having rank or pedigree doesn’t make you an Alpha. Being the bosses son or daughter doesn’t make you an Alpha. People may follow the bosses kid but it because they are the bosses kid not because they are Alphas. Therefore for our purposes Alphas are the good guys— that inspire good people to good things and we will assign the term Gamma to those who are anti-tribe.
An Alpha brings joy to serve and helps the group. To be a team player into the situation. It’s not just the normal desire to belong to something greater than themselves or a place where they belong and are loved— even though these are basic healthy desires we all have. When it is healthy, nurturing and functional we have a "family", a friend group, a tribe that has our well-being at interest. When it is exploitative for one persons greed or some groups power, to be served as if they are in the “God Position” then we have martyrs for Occult-leadership— which can run the gamut from a religious belief system to a government regime or ideology.
Even the Almighty Father gave Jesus a choice and Jesus by His own freewill said: “Not my will be done but Your Will be done”. The Father is the Lord’s Alpha.
I’m no sociologist, I’m simply an ENTRA-MISSIONARY putting to terms the understanding of “leadership in a fallen world”.
From business to church and family dynamics, understanding the roles, gifts and callings we are given will make us all the more happy to be part of the family or tribe we find ourselves in. So, whether you are an Alpha, Beta, Delta or Omega— your personal happiness and well-being is knowing where you belong and are loved.
Once again for our training purposes—we also will use a number. A number is assigned to the character value of someone. There are Alpha Ones and there are Alpha fours. If you are on this scale then be encouraged no one starts off as a One - we all develop into ONE.
Over the years I have observed there are four elements to any good worker, associate or teammate.
Your heart is aptitude, your head is your intellect, (your capacity to understand), your sacrificial-commitment reveals your desire, and your endurance reveals your character. These four elements will dictate the kind of person you higher for a job or fellowship in the faith. It is where the four bleed into the one that makes an enduring character of faithfulness and productivity— the noble soil that Christ referred to in the parable of the sower of the seed - found in Matthew 13.
To verify CHARACTER takes precious time and patience. It won’t happen in a job interview and it won’t happen in a month— it takes years to prove character. Character is not personality, charm, wit, or rhetoric— character is actions— the one thing that can never be a protected status in this fallen world. The character is only revealed in ENDURING CONSISTENT ACTION.
Your productivity reveals your gifts and caliber of skill-set. Your commitment to excellence reveals your heart and desire. Your endurance reveals your fitness for the position of authority or stewardship.
Whatever our trade or career these four elements are what makes us Alpha Ones, Beta Ones, Delta Ones, or Omega Ones; being a “One” is a proven character that was refined seven times like pure Gold. Therefore the number is your caliber of proven character, emotional intelligence, excellence in performance and degrees of understanding or applied skill-set. Only ONES are worthy of trust in delegated authority and excellence in their respective areas. A "ONE" is diligent in his or her business and skillful in their work - as Proverbs 22:29 says - they will stand before kings.
For this lesson's sake, Gamma’s can be any position from a type A- Alpha Executive Leader, type B-Beta lieutenant, a type D-Delta tradesmen or specialist; or an Omega peacemaker. Anyone of these types can for some reason let fear, pride and or bitterness to make them toxic and counterproductive as a team leader or a teammate. Gammas are the one that gets a gun and shoots a bunch of people or the strife antagonistic that didn’t get their fear, pride or bitterness served by a loved one, mentor, church or society.
So for our sake, Gammas are bad, Alpha is good.
Though in some circles who discuss socio-sexual hierarchy, those studies are dealing with society structure in relationship to the opposite sex. They place the Gammas at second to the bottom. Even though they are very smart, fall hard in love, can be kind and empathetic but unfortunately, they can tend to be narcissistic and feel they are entitled due to the extreme force or intensity of their love that the other person must accept them and cannot fathom why they do not. Their pride tells them they should be the Alpha-King but this is a vision of grandeur due to the fact they are afraid of conflict, fear failure and are oblivious to the one thing Alphas have — “hierarchical awareness”, Alphas know their place and protect it. They also lack, original vision, which creates agendas for the Alpha’s juniors. You know - "Teamwork makes the dream work, however, the dream puts the team to work and that comes through an Alpha.
You are not an Alpha if you do not have "original vision" or revelation that produces passion, confidence and drive to rally a team together— you are not an Alpha— at least at this juncture - BUT YOU CAN CHANGE THAT, IF YOU ARE WILLING TO LEARN.
